Interface language: English

System requirements:
Windows XP/ 2003/ Vista/ 7/ 8/ 8.1/ 10/ 11 (x86/x64)

Description:
78RePack (utility for converting Wim/Esd/Swm/Rwm archives) is a GUI for WimLib (an alternative @MS set of libraries for working with wim archives). GUI made with PECMD2012 script. Utility features: converting Wim/Esd/Swm/Rwm archives, viewing the information of the selected archive, checking the integrity of the archive, unpacking the archive to the selected folder. Works independently of Dism/Imagex.
Button assignment:
pic1. Information about the archive. If selected, a notepad will open with textual information about the archive.
2. Checking the integrity of the archive. A DOS window will open showing the check log.
3. Unpacking the archive. Allows you to select the folder (drive) to which the contents of the archive will be extracted. In this case, a folder with the name of the archive and the extension Unp will be created in the specified folder (or on the disk). That is, the folder will be called Boot.Unp if you are working with the Boot.wim archive. The full contents of the archive will be unpacked to this folder. It is recommended to choose a folder on a fast media, NTFS partition (extraction to other file systems is not guaranteed, although it is possible). The maximum extraction speed will be if the archive and the folder for its extraction are on different drives.
4.Schedule. You can assign actions to 78RePack after completing the task: do nothing (by default), exit the program, restart or turn off the PC. There is an indication of the set mode (item 11). If the packaging process is interrupted, the schedule setting is "reset". If the repacking is successfully completed, a countdown timer (10 min.) is displayed, and you can cancel the shutdown / reboot (Cancel or pressing Enter or Space on the keyboard) ... or apply it immediately. You can change the schedule mode both before the start of the operation and during its execution (slowdown is possible). The schedule applies only to repack operations (from the bottom panel).
5.Selecting an archive, a selection dialog will open (displays only files with *.wim, *.esd, *.swm, *.rwm masks). It is possible to automatically pick up the archive when starting the utility. To do this, on the disk with% Temp% (a priori, this should be the most capacious and fastest partition) there must be a 78RePack folder in the root. On startup, this folder will be checked for *.wim, *.esd, *.swm files, and the first found one will be selected automatically.
6. Displaying the folder containing the selected archive. The same folder will be used during the conversion as a working folder.
7. Display the name and extension of the selected archive.
8. The size of the original file in bytes (if no operations were performed - then "-").
9. Size of the current (processed) file in bytes.
10.The ratio of the size of the current (processed) file to the original (if no operations were performed, then "-").
11. Indication of the set schedule mode (no default setting).
12. Indication of time from the beginning of the operation.
13. Indication of the estimated time of the operation (appears when the operation is more than 0%).
14. Selecting the final type of archive (unsupported options are automatically blocked):
a) Convert regular archives of any supported type to optimized wim (LZX compression algorithm). Optimization allows you to reduce the archive size by at least 2-3% (and for those repacked many times with DISM/Imagex/GImagex and more). At the same time, the new archives remain compatible with the boot system for Wim-kernels from @MS (for both NT5.x and NT6.x - that is, for all available RAM assemblies). This mode is recommended for installation archives (install.wim).
b) Converting ordinary archives of any supported type into optimized ones with the maximum possible packing (within the limits of compatibility with Wim-loading). Allows you to get an additional win when packing (up to 1-2% compared to optimized archives). This mode is recommended for boot archives (such as boot.wim). It can also be used for installation archives (install.wim), but we take into account that the processing time compared to a) is about one and a half times longer, and the processor load during conversion is also higher.
c) Convert to esd format. This format (LZMS compression algorithm) is supported exclusively in OS/PE based on 8.1 and above (more precisely, support for DISM 6.3 and above is required). Only installation archives (install.esd) can be converted to this format, provided that the installation will be performed from PE installers based on 8.1 and higher (or DISM 6.3 and higher is included in PE). Booting from esd is not possible (existing versions of NTLDR/BOOTMGR bootloaders do not support LZMS compression).
d) Splitting an archive of any supported type into parts of 1000MB or converting it to SWM. The size of parts of 1000MB allows you to easily write such archives both to a FAT32 partition and to a CD with the CDFS file system. Let me clarify that SWM is not a separate type of archive, but a simple breakdown of a large archive into volumes. You can only split wim archives.
* The reverse operation is possible - "gluing" SWM (or RWM) volumes into a monolithic archive. To do this, select the first volume (usually without a number, for the rest, numbers are added to the name) and click "Start".
15. Indication of the progress of the conversion (also in paragraph 17 in the form of numbers).
16. Button for viewing the operation log. Allows you to view the current log of the repacking operation at any time. If there is no log, it is blocked.
17. Digital indication of repacking progress.
18. Combined "Start/Cancel" button. Allows you to start repacking, after which it changes to "Cancel" (the button to cancel the operation). Clicking on "Cancel" allows you to abort the repacking/verification/extraction process (if multiple copies of 78RePack are running, operations in all windows will be aborted!).
Note
*1 If no archive is selected, most of the buttons are disabled. Also, the buttons are locked during operations.
*2 If the operation failed (for example, the input archive was damaged or the WLImagex.exe process was interrupted by a third-party program), we will receive an error message "The original is damaged. Please verify it ...". An exception is merging/cutting WIM<>SWM, the integrity of the archive is not checked in these modes (only the complete completion of the operation is checked).
*3 If the process is completed successfully, the input file extension will be changed to a new one (wim/esd/swm) and the program will switch to the new file.
*4 If the operation was interrupted (by Cancel), then the program will continue to work with the last selected file, and unsuccessful conversion results will be deleted.
*5 When starting WIM>SWM partitioning or SWM>WIM merging, a window for selecting the target folder for the new file(s) will open. If cancelled, new files will be created in the original folder. Dividing/gluing does not delete the originals. If the operation fails, the new files will be deleted.
*6 After the successful completion of the operation, a log of the last operation (file 78RePack.log) /added in 1.4/ will be created in the %Temp% folder.
*7 Do not convert originals, but operate copies. It is recommended to check the new archive after conversion (Verify).

Nuances when using:
1. When splitting archives (WIM->SWM) or gluing (SWM->WIM), the integrity of the original is not checked. Therefore, it is recommended to check the original or the result (Verify).
2. When repacking to WIM (from WIM or ESD), the original will be replaced (a feature of WimLib when converting).
3. When gluing/cutting or converting WIM->ESD, the original is not affected.

Features of the portable version:
The portable version of the program is provided by the developer and works without installation on a computer.
