Description
I devised my 'follow-along' forms before Covid because once I established an in-person class, new beginners found it difficult to come in and grasp the Yang beginners ten forms, often saying there was too much to think about at once, learning the feet and the hands then having to remember the sequence. The retention rate of beginners in established classes was poor. I discovered that by using and teaching the hand movements separately and then slowly adding the other principles worked. I put together the follow-along number one which I also named 'Blossom Form' and all of a sudden beginners were staying on and persevering. By the time they got to the beginner ten forms they had learned enough to stay hooked. It wasn't too much all at the same time. Within this course I teach my follow-along number one. In the next course I'll teach number two followed by the ten forms. Another thing that I have discovered recently since being able to teach in-person classes again, is that by teaching the two follow-along courses first, ten forms was a breeze. What else do you get? I teach:-How to find your centre (of gravity) which is helpful for balance and stability - it is one of the foundational principles of Tai Chi.-Breathing from the belly. -Body position.- Beginning and ending etiquette. - Basic forms which tend to appear in most other forms sets. - Tai Chi walking - the basis of rooted stepping and mindful walking.- Rooted stepping.- Guided body scan meditation.- There is also a sample lesson.- Complete the full form instructed.- Complete the form with me, without instruction, to soft music.
