Empathy is integral to fostering understanding, communication and a positive culture with a diverse workforce. Dispelling DEI misconceptions demands practicality, particularly in middle management with active listening and empathy at the forefront. A staggering 92% emphasized the importance of working for an organization valuing emotional and psychological well-being.We share the building blocks of emotional and cognitive cultures, analyzing the 8 kinds of company culture defined by the Harvard Business Review. Once you identify your culture, you will be empowered with tools to begin making proactive change for well-being in the workplace. By understanding concepts of self care, emotional regulation, active listening, how to respond to micro-aggressions, how to leverage social norms, and what about mirror neurons - the science of empathy; you will create the culture that is conducive to a mentally healthy place of work. Next steps include the planning phase of change management, and we introduce the Acadia Model for Well-Being. Our model integrates social norms and roles into change management for mental well-being initiatives at work. Key insights from the Attorney General on Workplace Mental Health are at the forefront.
