Description
This certificate programme is designed for those who have foundational knowledge of ESG and sustainability in business. It is a technical course that aims to promote hands-on learning by students and professionals who wish to learn the mechanics of constructing climate scenarios using International Financial Reporting Standard for Sustainability 2 (IFRS S2) and Task Force Climate Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) recommended climate scenarios such as UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).In this course, students will learn how to present climate risk and opportunities disclosures as required by the TCFD and IFRS S2- a very technical skill that requires basic understanding of IFRS for financial reporting. I have, however, provided detailed explanation of the aspects of IFRS that intersect with the climate disclosures students are learning in this course, hence, minimizing the risk that students would finding it difficult to understand the course.Finally, students who participate in this certificate programme will learn how to prepare climate risk scenarios using the IPCC Scenarios framework. The latest IPCC Assessment Report (AR6) have been used to deliver this course, so students will learn how to collect climate data from verifiable sources such as the IPCC Climate Data Explorer and the International Energy Agency (IEA) Data Center to construct climate risk scenarios for our case study company, Boeing Corporation- the biggest aerospace company in the World. This final section of the course is rigorous and evidence-based as required by the IFRS S2 and TCFD and would equip learners to prepare climate risk scenarios for their companies and clients.
