Steps to follow:
1. Run the TurboTax 2022.msi in the TurboTax 2022\MSI subdirectory. In the next dialog box that opens, Agree to terms and UNCHECK "Sure, Count me in" box before proceeding.

2. DO NOT open Turbotax. Now run the setup.exe in this package and you will get two finish screens (included in order below at the end of these instructions)

3. Place a copy of the four files, located in this download,named Intuit.Ctg.Wte.Service.dll, perwin.ini, prd.ini and prd.ini.signature into C:\Program Files (x86)\TurboTax\Individual 2022\32bit subdirectory.

4. Place a copy of the config.xml file, located in this download, into C:\Program Files (x86)\TurboTax\Individual 2022\Installer subdirectory

5. Run the resulting Turbotax 2022 program installed on your computer by clicking the Windows orb and then Turbotax 2022. Use its "Online" tab to check for updates while the version is in the initial "Basic" version, and let it update, if necessary.

6. When this Update is not available or shows Successful, close the Update dialog box by clicking the continue to Turbotax 2022 button and then use the "Help" tab to select your desired version. This will close Turbotax program.

7. Restart Turbotax program to enable the version you chose and use the Online tab to check for updates again. The last screen below should be presented if your installation is correct. It is recommended to use the "Online" tab then "Updater Preferences" and set to "I do not have Internet connection.....".

8. If you require state returns, CLOSE Turbotax, use the Windows task manager to stop the IntuitUpdateServiceV4. Then modify the Statedownload.reg file herein by right clicking it, then edit, save and execute the Statedownload.reg file. Executing this file as-is will enable California State Tax forms download. See notes inside this file. Restart your computer before starting Turbotax again. If you have added states, checking for updates from the Online tab, will find the new state forms.
Enhancements have been made to enable free state efilings.

Troubleshooting:
If your Turbotax 2022 program ever shows the activation window prompt, Modify TTWinUserState.xml file, located at "c:\users\******\AppData\Roaming\Intuit\TurboTax\TY22" . Open Windows Explorer to quickly navigate to that location. Paste inside the quotes, "%APPDATA%\Intuit\TurboTax\TY22", then use Notepad.exe to add following line right after the beginning "":
false

If Turbotax 2022 ever refuses to start after installing any update, reinstall a copy of the Intuit.Ctg.Wte.Service.dll as in step 3.

Note: If you have a previously failed TT2022 installation, and your TT2022 does not open or work as expected, then you can start over by uninstalling TT2022:

Removal of failed TT installation:

IMPORTANT: When attempting an uninstall, DO NOT remove any references to previous year installations. Revo will find leftovers from previous years, and those should not be removed if you EVER want to run previous year TT programs.
