You'll learn to:Build confident ink linework using simple shapes and textures,Add depth and mood with light watercolor washes,Simplify complex scenes into elegant, minimal compositions,And develop your own expressive, sketchbook-friendly line and wash style.This class is designed especially for beginners, even if you've never picked up a pen or brush before. I'll walk you through each step slowly and clearly, explaining my thought process and techniques along the way.By the end of this class, you'll have a beautiful collection of Nordic scenes and the skills to create your own pen and wash artworks anywhere, whether you're at home or traveling.So grab your pen, your watercolor set, and let's get started painting the quiet beauty of the North!Your class project is to draw and paint your Nordic scene in watercolor! This can be a scene featured in this class, or based on one of your own photographs/references or scenes you have observed outside.You can also refer to the scanned paintings and photo references attached below which will allow you to trace the drawing if you choose to do so. I recommend drawing each scene freehand. Drawing is an important step in improving your painting skills. This provides you with an opportunity to compose and plan your painting. Once you've finished the drawing, use the watercolor steps and processes included in the class demonstrations to complete your painting.Materials (see 'Materials Required Lecture):Use any watercolor paints, pens, watercolor paper, and brushes you have available. I recommend:0.5mm or similar black permanent ink penArtist-grade watercolor paints - blue, yellow, and red100% cotton watercolor paper or sketchbookWatercolour Brushes - mop brush and a variety of round brushes for detailing.
