A new set of contestants enter the kitchen to show of their skills in the hope of making it through to the quarter-finals. Tasks involve turning a humble set of ingredients, including hazelnuts and a piece of cod, into a showstopper of a dish and a mystery box containing three different types of pastry - filo, shortcrust and puff. Those that make it through get the chance to cook a two-course meal for 2022 champion Eddie Scott and the same year's runners-up Pookie Tredell and Radha Kaushal-Bolland.

The contenders are afforded 80 minutes to create a dish that shows off an everyday ingredient. Sugar, pasta and mussels are among the picks, all with the potential to showcase plates packed with skill and flavour. The standout cooks head straight for the next round, leaving the others with a final chance to impress via a mystery box challenge, with coffee, chocolate and plums on offer as key ingrediants. Only two will make it through to the last stage, cooking a two-course meal for 2021 champion Tom Rhodes, 2018 champion Kenny Tutt and 2021 finalist Alexina Anatole.
