NoteEQ is an EQ/Limiter pre-tuned to note centers.
More than a decade ago, I made a version of this in WDL (thanks Rob!) to deal with the problem of "one note bass" and dealing with overly loud or overly dead bass notes across the bass fret-board. My mastering engineer ended up using it for far more things, and I have been meaning to update it ever since. In this version, you actually have a limiter per band. In earlier versions, just EQ-ing a hole sometimes caused more problems than it fixed, but now, with the limiter, you can get a hold of the mix when its making trouble and leave it alone when it isn't! Click "E" (for Enable, were still deciding on the name) in order to enable a band (they are off by default) and "D" in an enabled band to turn on the limiter. Switch octaves with the +/- buttons under the spectrum. Note that the octaves are shown in the spectrum display so you don't have to do the math.
EQ and dynamics processor with bands centered on musical notes.
Problem: Sometimes our perception of vocal tuning can be changed by adding or removing a certain amount of particular frequencies. Also there's a common problem of what is known as "One Note Bass" where nearby notes are indistinguishable from one another in pitch because of resonances' masking effects. One way to solve this is to find a specific note and turn it up or down.
Previous solutions: in the olden days engineers should bring up a note to frequency chart and or a calculator and just start plugging in values and if they're on an old analog equalizer they're hoping they got close enough on the knob and that it would stay put every time. A very time consuming, and frustrating process.
Our Solution: NoteEQ provides each of the notes in the regularly audible spectrum with its own EQ band already calculated for you. In case the song is using some non-standard tuning there so there is a fine-tuning control available that affects all the bands at once and each band has some limited dynamics capabilities as well.
