BASKETWEAVE AFGHAN

MATERIALS: 3 colors of 4 ply worsted weight yarn: Approximately 17 oz of Color A, and 12 oz of Colors B and C. Size J hook.

SIZE: Approximately 46" x 55"
GAUGE: 3 dc = 1"

STITICHES: Front post dtr (FPdtr): [Yo hook] 3 times, insert hook from front to back around post of dc 2 rows below, complete st as dtr = 1 FPdtr completed.

DIRECTIONS:
Note: Turning ch-3 always counts as 1 dc. There will always be 135 sts (including turning ch) in each row. With Color A, ch 136. (Note: To increase the width of the afghan, add 20 ch sts.)

Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across row = 135 dc counting starting ch. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 3 for first dc, dc in each dc across. Fasten off. Turn.
Row 3: Join Color B, ch 3 for first dc, dc in each of next 4 dc, * [FPdtr] 5 times, dc in each of next 15 sts; repeat from * to last 10 sts, end with [FPdtr] 5 times, dc in 5 dc. Turn. Row 4: Ch 3 for first dc, dc in each st across. Fasten off. Turn.
Row 5: Join Color C, ch 3 for first dc, dc in each of next 14 sts, * [FPdtr] 5 times, dc in each of next 15 sts; repeat from * across row. Turn.
Row 6: Repeat row 4.
Repeat rows 3-6 working 2 rows each * Color A, Color B, Color C; repeat from * until there are 16 stripes of Color C; end with Rows 5 and 6 using Color A. Fasten off.

EDGING:
Rnd 1: Right side facing, with afghan turned to work across long edge, join Color A in corner; ch 3 for 1st dc, in same corner work dc, ch 2, 2 dc, * working across row edges [ch 1, dc in edge of next row] to next corner, ch 1 *; in corner work 2 dc, ch 2, and 2 dc, ** working across short edge [ch 1, sk 1 st, dc in next st] to next corner, ch 1 **; work corner as before; repeat from * to * across next long edge; repeat from ** to ** across remaining short edge. Join with sl st to top of starting ch-3.
Rnd 2: Ch 4 for first dc and ch 1, * in ch- 2 corner work 3 dc, ch 3, 2 dc, sk next dc, [ch 1, dc in next dc] to next corner, ch 1; repeat from * around, join with sl st to top of starting ch-4.
Rnd 3: Sc in each dc and ch-l sp around; work 4 sc in each ch-3 corner. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

BEAR IN BUNNY CLOTHES

MATERIALS: Size F and G hooks; worsted weight yarn: approx. l oz white (body, legs, arms,head cap), small amounts of rose/pink (feet /hands), bright orange/green (carrot), black (nose/mouth), beige/brown (bear head); craft eyes (secured from behind); fiberfill; yarn needle Note: You can use F hook and sport weight for a smaller bear.

SIZE: About 9" tall (sitting)
DIRECTIONS:
HEAD:

Starting at nose with, F hook, using beige or brown, ch 3, join to form ring.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in ring, do not join. Place marker for beg. of rounds.
Rnd 2: 2 sc around. (12 sc)
Rnd 3: Sc, inc next sc, around. (18 sc)
Rnd 4-7: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 8: Inc 10 sc around, evenly spaced.
Rnd 9: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 10: Leaving 7 center bottom sc without incs, increase 12 sc evenly spaced on sides and top of head.
Rnd 11-12: Sc around. Attach craft eyes, embroider nose and mouth.
Rnd 13: Sc to sc adjacent of eye and have 5 sc between ears at top of head, working in front loop of sc, hdc, dc 2 dc, dc, hdc over next 5 scs, full sc over next 5 sc, hdc, dc 2 dc, dc, hdc over next 5 sc, sc to end.
Rnd 14: Sc to hdc, work sc in back half of 5 ear stitches, sc to next hdc and work sc in back half of 2nd ear stitches, sc to end.
Rnd 15-17: Sc around.
Rnd 18: Sc in next 2 sc, dec, repeat around. Stuff head snugly.
Repeat rnd 18 until 4-6 sc remain. Leaving long end for weaving, cut yarn. Add stuffing if needed and weave opening closed.
Attach yarn in sc before hdc of ear and work slip stitch in each of 5 ear stitches, end off and pull yarn ends to insideof head. Repeat for 2nd ear.

BODY:
With G hook, starting at neck with white, ch 2, join with sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Work 5 sc in ring. Do not join. Place marker (back of body).
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (l0 sc)
Rnd 3: Sc in next sc, inc, repeat around. (15 sc) Rnd 4-6: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 7: Sc around, inc 8 sc evenly spaced. (23 sc) Rnd 8: Sc around inc 7 sc evenly spaced. (30 sc) Rnd 9-16: Sc around. Firmly stuff body and continue to add stuffing as needed.
Rnd 17: Sc next 2 sc, dec, around and continue until 6 stitches remain. Cut yarn leaving long end for weaving opening closed. Close opening.

LEGS: (Make 2)
With G hook, ch 3 with rose/pink, join to form ring. Rnd 1: 6 sc in ring, do not join.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)
Rnd 3: Sc, inc next sc, around. (18 sc) Cut rose/pink, attach white.
Rnds 4-6: Sc around.
Rnd 7: 6 Sc, dec 3 times, 6 scs. (15 sc)
Rnds 8-18: Sc around.
