Description
An investment visa in U.S. immigration, primarily represented by the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program, provides a pathway for foreign investors to obtain a U.S. green card (permanent residency) by making a substantial investment in a new commercial enterprise that creates jobs for American workers. The program mandates a minimum investment of $1.8 million, though this amount can be reduced to $900,000 if the investment is made in a Targeted Employment Area (TEA), which includes rural areas or regions with high unemployment. The core requirement of the EB-5 visa is the creation or preservation of at least 10 full-time jobs for qualifying U.S. workers within two years of the investor's admission to the United States.Investors have the option to make a direct investment, where they are actively involved in managing the business, or invest through a designated Regional Center, which pools investments from multiple EB-5 investors and is often involved in larger projects. The Regional Center manages the job creation requirements, which can be advantageous for investors who prefer a more passive role.
