Requirements
No prior musical experience necessary
Must have an alto saxophone and all appropriate accessories (reeds, strap, etc.)
A Copy of the Standards of Excellence Book 1 for the Alto Saxophone.
Description
This brief course helps you get starting on your journey playing the alto saxophone. All content helps to establish a strong foundation on your goal of playing the saxophone and with our full support, you never go alone. In this course, we go over assembling the sax, disassembling the sax, how to properly align your reed, proper mouthpiece placement, embouchure training, breathing techniques, and posture. We then start you playing the alto saxophone learning your first notes and a couple songs with increasing notes and difficulty and we go throughout the course. We finish the course with an overview of the 5 basic major scales and the chromatic scales with accompanying exercises for each. This course is to be used at your pace and when you can schedule time to concentrate on the course for the optimum success. Best practice for this course, as is repeated throughout the course, is to first watch the video, then watch the video a second time while following along in the music, then attempt to play along with the instructor the first time (or as many times as needed), then try the exercise on your own. We make use to the Standards of Excellence Book 1 for the Alto Saxophone in this course. We suggest purchasing the book either through out store or through the ✅Publisher's website. The book is a great resource for later use with additional exercises, studies and a fingering chart on the front of the back cover.
