Quote:Like the alphabet, the calendar, or the zodiac, the periodic table of the chemical elements has a permanent place in our imagination. But aside from the handful of common ones (iron, carbon, copper, gold), the elements themselves remain wrapped in mystery. We do not know what most of them look like, how they exist in nature, how they got their names, or of what use they are to us. Unlocking their astonishing secrets and colorful pasts, Periodic Tales is a passionate journey through mines and artists' studios, to factories and cathedrals, into the woods and to the sea to discover the true stories of these fascinating but mysterious building blocks of the universe. Printed Matters. Printing, Publishing and Urban Culture in Europe in the Modern Period. (Malcolm Gee, Tim Kirk) (2002) Publisher: Wydawnictwo: Ashgate Since the invention of printing in the mid-fifteenth century the production, distribution and consumption of printed matter have been the principal means through which new ideas and representations have been spread. In recent times cultural historians have taken a growing interest in the previously somewhat isolated field of book history, shifting the study of printing and publishing into the centre of historical concern. This study of print and printing culture has naturally led historians to a concern with its urban context. The urban environment was fundamental to the development of printing from the outset, since it was in towns that the necessary combination of technical and entrepreneurial competencies were located, and where a growing demand for printed texts was to be found. Print permeated the urban experience at every level, and formed the chief means by which its ideas, values and beliefs were exported to the rest of society. In this way print promoted the broader urbanisation of society, by spreading urban attitudes and ideas beyond the limits of the city. It is with the urban cultural environment that this volume is primarily concerned, underlining the centrality of printing and publishing to the understanding of urban culture. Focusing particularly on post 1800 France and Germany, it considers a wide range of printed matter and engages with a number of recurrent historical issues, such as the role of printing in urban economies, the construction of metropolitan identities and the testing of moral boundaries. 🌞 Contents of Download: 📌 Periodic Tales A Cultural History of the Elements, From Arsenic to Zinc (Unabridged) - 001.m4b (24:23) (2002) (11.11 MB) 📌 Periodic Tales A Cultural History of the Elements, From Arsenic to Zinc (Unabridged) - 002.m4b (57:22) (2002) (26.09 MB) 📌 Periodic Tales A Cultural History of the Elements, From Arsenic to Zinc (Unabridged) - 003.m4b (57:59) (2002) (26.37 MB) 📌 Periodic Tales A Cultural History of the Elements, From Arsenic to Zinc (Unabridged) - 004.m4b (58:32) (2002) (26.62 MB) 📌 Periodic Tales A Cultural History of the Elements, From Arsenic to Zinc (Unabridged) - 005.m4b (47:37) (2002) (21.67 MB) 📌 Periodic Tales A Cultural History of the Elements, From Arsenic to Zinc (Unabridged) - 006.m4b (51:21) (2002) (23.36 MB) 📌 Periodic Tales A Cultural History of the Elements, From Arsenic to Zinc (Unabridged) - 007.m4b (45:12) (2002) (20.57 MB) 📌 Periodic Tales A Cultural History of the Elements, From Arsenic to Zinc (Unabridged) - 008.m4b (43:57) (2002) (20 MB) 📌 Periodic Tales A Cultural History of the Elements, From Arsenic to Zinc (Unabridged) - 009.m4b (54:08) (2002) (24.63 MB) 📌 Periodic Tales A Cultural History of the Elements, From Arsenic to Zinc (Unabridged) - 010.m4b (57:27) (2002) (26.13 MB) 📌 Periodic Tales A Cultural History of the Elements, From Arsenic to Zinc (Unabridged) - 011.m4b (53:49) (2002) (24.48 MB) 📌 Periodic Tales A Cultural History of the Elements, From Arsenic to Zinc (Unabridged) - 012.m4b (39:38) (2002) (18.04 MB) 📌 Periodic Tales A Cultural History of the Elements, From Arsenic to Zinc (Unabridged) - 013.m4b (43:10) (2002) (19.65 MB) 📌 Periodic Tales A Cultural History of the Elements, From Arsenic to Zinc (Unabridged) - 014.m4b (39:54) (2002) (18.16 MB) 📌 Periodic Tales A Cultural History of the Elements, From Arsenic to Zinc (Unabridged) - 015.m4b (39:27) (2002) (17.95 MB) 📌 Periodic Tales A Cultural History of the Elements, From Arsenic to Zinc (Unabridged) - 016.m4b (41:36) (2002) (18.93 MB) 📌 Periodic Tales A Cultural History of the Elements, From Arsenic to Zinc (Unabridged) - 017.m4b (17:37) (2002) (8.04 MB) 🌞 Duration: 12:53:09 🌞 BitRate: 62 Kbps ⭐️ Periodic Tales A Cultural History Of The Elements From Arsenic To Zinc Audiobook ✅ (351.84 MB) RapidGator Link(s) NitroFlare Link(s) |
