Some armies have their own special rules which affect the army as a whole and these are included in a general description before the details of the individual creatures. This general layout has been preferred over a simple alphabetic version so you can study the troops belonging to each army in a sensible and convenient way.

If you want to look up the rules for a particular creature, and you are not sure which army it is from, then simply refer to the alphabetical index at the back of the book.
