Description:
Inno Setup is a program for creating installation packages. The installation file of any application created by the utility allows reading and writing data to the registry and configuration INI files during its installation. Here it is possible to register libraries and ActiveX components, as well as launch external programs. In addition, the utility has an option to create installation types, for example, such as: full installation, minimal, custom, etc. There are settings in Inno Setup where you can determine whether the Welcome dialog will appear when the program being installed is launched. For convenience, there is a function to create backup copies of installation projects when they are changed. The help system of the utility is well written and supported by examples.

OS requirements have changed: Windows 2000, XP and Server 2003 are no longer supported. Windows Vista is the minimum supported operating system.

Changing the default behavior:Starting with Inno Setup 6.1, the [Setup] MinVersion section directive defaults to 6.1sp1 , so by default the installer will not run on Windows Vista or on versions of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 that have not been upgraded. Setting MinVersion to 6.0 to allow the installer to run on Windows Vista is supported but not recommended: Windows Vista does not support some installer security measures against potential DLL preload attacks, so the compiler must remove them if the MinVersion is below 6.1 , which the installer does less secure on all versions of Windows.

Changing the default behavior:starting from Inno Setup 6 only one version is available: Unicode Inno Setup. Unicode Inno Setup has been available since 2009, but if you haven't upgraded to it yet: see the Unicode Inno Setup section in the help file for more information. Basically, if you don't use to call DLLs with string parameters, you don't need to make any changes to your script.
