Description:
RSS Guard is a simple C++ / QT graphical application for reading news feeds (RSS feeds) ).
RSS Guard provides a strict and concise user interface (it is possible to change the theme), all the most common news feed formats (RSS, Atom, PDF, etc.) are supported and provide the functionality inherent in most RSS aggregators, MySQL is used to store user data (free , a relational database management system).

There are two versions of the program in the distribution: full and lightweight, without its own WEB engine. Versions for windows-7 use QT-5, versions for windows-10 use QT-6.

News feeds and channels in RSS Guard can be divided into "profiles", subscriptions can be organized into a convenient tree structure (by categories and topics), news feed updates can be automatically checked when the application starts and at a specified interval. For each channel, you can set an icon, if you don't like the icon from the channel, you can use a local icon/picture.
RSS Guard has a built-in minimalistic web browser (based on the WebKit engine) with support for tabs, the number of opened tabs is not limited, tabs are restored upon shutdown/restart. Work through a proxy is supported, it is possible to disable JavaScript support and image loading (for greater speed and security), and you can also enable / disable Flash (implemented as an external plugin).
There are detailed settings for each channel/stream, authentication is supported on those resources where necessary, which makes it possible to use RSS Guard on any sites. For this or that news, or on a date, you can put a "bookmark" (for quick access to news at any time), it is possible to create backup copies of subscriptions and application settings.
RSS Guard is highly automated and adapted for active Internet surfing, it integrates into the notification area (tray) and displays the number of unread news on the icon, if there is an update, tooltips are displayed in the news feeds (optional). The application can be controlled using the mouse and/or keyboard shortcuts (fully customizable).

Massive update for feed fetching mechanism. It is now very parallelized and performance gain should be brutal. On my development PC with 4 cores (Intel i5) I observed 800 % performance boost. Note that this feature required a huge number of changes on source code so there could be some corner case regressions or not so polished situations. File bug report when that happens. Also, number of threads used by this feature is configurable via --threads command line switch. This parallelization approach will also be applied to some other parts of application in the future, particularly for some massive batched network operations in some plugin - TT-RSS, Greader or Gmail - which will result in massive performance boost too.
RSS Guard is now available on Flathub in two distinct variants - "full" and "lite" (same as "
Suffix ".xml" is also accepted for OPML 2.0 files.
Brutal speed enhancements when importing OPML 2.0 files. Whole functionality is now properly parallelized and performance boost is potentially massive, depending on number of your CPU cores/threads.
Qt 6 bumped to 6.4.2 version - this fixes some regressions.
